Saving Waterfowl One Pond at a Time

Various Ducks at the Center

Muddyduck Waterfowl Breeding Center Inc. is currently a small facility maintaining about seventy species and approximately three hundred birds. Prior to incorporating into a not-for-profit, the Center was known as Muddyduck Farm. Muddyduck Farm was an extremely successful breeding facility. Some of the species formerly kept at Muddyduck Farm are, unfortunately, no longer, or very rarely, found in American Collections. Examples of such species include: Cape Shovelers, Pewlew Island Gray Ducks, Australian Black Ducks, Megallanic Steamer Ducks, European Green Wing Teal, Baer's Pochard, Australian White eye, and Chinese Spotbills. Muddyduck Waterfowl Breeding Center is currently working on reestablishing the aforementioned species in America, and is hoping to get some financial support to expidite these projects. One species, the Hawaiian Duck, which had not been kept or bred in America since 1989 (at Muddyduck Farm), was donated to the Center in Nov.2005 by Zoo Halle in Germany. We bred several Hawaiian Ducks during the 2006 hatching season, and will be dispersing all of the offspring free of charge to interested aviculturists or zoological parks...
